WALKS & STORIES |
Listeners respond There are many attractions for tourists in the Great Karoo - when you join Ailsa on her Historical Trail or her Ghost Walk you meet some of the lesser known ones. She will introduce you to some of the amazing characters who give Prince Albert its unique spirit. Ailsa clearly has a passion for story-telling - not the small town type "confidentially" exchanged over a cup of tea - no, these are real stories. The history of the region, its architecture, the people who have lived here and circumstances which shaped their lives. With infectious enthusiasm Ailsa transports you back in time in a way that is only possible if thorough and meticulous preparation has been done. When you go on a Prince Albert Walk with Ailsa you see things you never noticed before and you are transformed from tourist to a friend of Prince Albert. JP Meyer, Artists' retreat host Thank you for you from me and my visitors, after you took us around, when we visited your lovely town. You did it with such enthusiasm I am jealous. It was really so kind of you to come and tell my visitors all about your town's stories/ exhibits /ghosts/ spooks and so on. N Arnoni, Israeli Tourist Guide New
Site for Karoo Tales Ghosts, history and Karoo stories have led Prince Albert writer, researcher and storyteller, Ailsa Tudhope to cyberspace. Already well known in the village for her Karoo stories, popular ghost walk and historical ramble through the village, she has also started a website and e.mail newsletter, The Story Weaver. Each issue will carry a Karoo tale as well as news of what’s new and what’s on in the village. Those interested in the Karoo and its many stories should visit Ailsa’s site at www.storyweaver.co.za or e.mail her at story@storyweaver.co.za. Rose Willis in Rose's Roundup January 2004 |
